TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français / French Language Test) is administered by the French Ministry of Education. It is opened to anyone who wishes to test his/her knowledge in the French language for personal or professional reasons. The TCF is a multiple-choice test with 80 items that cover reading comprehension, command of grammatical structures and listening comprehension (duration: 1.5 hours). It also includes optional tests for written (1.45 hours) and oral expressions (15 minutes).

The TCF is meant for candidates from 16 years and above. Candidates do not require any qualification or any special preparation before taking the TCF. Alliance Française Accra organizes the TCF Québec as well. The TCF Québec is required from prospective candidates for immigration to Canada (Québec).
