BREAKING BARRIERS, one woman at a time!

In a groundbreaking move, under the leadership of our first female director, Mme Helene Geneau-Okutue, we launched “Entrepreneurship au Feminin”, an initiative aimed at empowering female entrepreneurs across diverse fields. This innovative program has been instrumental in providing women with the support they need to break barriers and achieve their goals.

The initiative which has yielded significant results has played a crucial role in fostering creativity and
empowering women in the arts, with recent successes including supporting the Koshka Residency, a program organized by Black Girls Glow to nurture emerging female artists by providing them with the necessary support and mentorship.

Beyond the arts, Alliance Francaise Accra through the “Entrepreneurship au Feminin” has also been
actively involved in supporting organizations dedicated to empowering women. One such partnership is
with the African Women Leadership Network Ghana, which aims to inspire and equip young females to
pursue careers in politics. By working together, these organizations are helping to create a more inclusive and equitable political landscape.

Another notable partnership is with the Lamisi Foundation, which has its focus amongst others on
educating young girls about menstrual health and hygiene and providing innovative solutions to combat
the topic. This cause is essential for ensuring that young girls in the Northern part of Ghana have access to the information and resources they need to attain and maintain a healthy menstrual cycle.

Alliance Française Accra has always been a nurturing ground for artists. Today, we’re breaking new ground with our “Entrepreneurship au Feminin” initiative. By empowering women to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams, we’re igniting a spark of change that will illuminate Ghana’s future.
